ACCESSORIES
Weight belt and weights - The correct type of belt for the spearo/free diver will be made of rubber and the reason for this is to allow for expansion/compression of you and your wetsuit under the various changes in depth experienced in any one dive. The rubbers ability to change under such extremes prevents any movement or slippage of the belt. The rubber belt also allows the diver to wear it lower on the body or hip area which gives you less restriction when taking long deep breaths before making a dive. Harness belts are designed for the person who has a bad back and these are usually worn on the shoulder or upper body area. All weight belts should have a quick release buckle system in case you need to remove it in an emergency. Weights for your belt come in many shapes and sizes and some are aerodynamically designed. Whatever you choose make sure you have the right balance and are correctly weighted for your gear. You should float on the surface and become negative buoyant at the right depth which can vary depending on what your maximum dive depth will be. Your weight belt should be regarded as a disposable item whatever it costs.
